In the south of Canberra the Eco-Villa Australasia team was tasked with designing and building a new raised outdoor entertaining area that finished at approximately 2m above ground level. The client had previously used the Eco-Villa team to install underfloor insulation a number of years earlier.
The design was to provide summer shade while allowing as much possible winter sun into the living areas of the house as well as create a underdeck storage and trailer parking area.
At 60sqm the deck was to be fully covered with stairs and enclosed subfloor. An optimal choice for the project was to use the Eco-Villa steel subfloor bearers, joists and concrete free Mega Anchor solution to achieve maximum spans and minimal piers. Reducing the number of piers has the obvious benefit of saving labour costs but also minimises the exposure to hitting underground services which is a commonly overlooked yet crucial factor in residential areas.
A custom designed Pergola provided a protective covering for a beautifully furnished outdoor entertaining area. With an extremely satisfied client the project was nominated for the HIA Outdoor Building of the year and received commendation award.
